PRODUCT: LIMITED EDITION ABSOLUT VODKA
ABSOLUT VODKA is one of the world's best selling international spirit brands. Even if all other members of this Vodka (like ABSOLUT CITRON, ABSOLUT KURRANT, etc.) have been made, they are still distilled hundreds of times before they can actually be called ABSOLUT VODKA. This process was first introduced in Sweden and through the years have been perfected through. This is what makes ABSOLUT VODKA the one of the best sellers in the world.
Different editions vary because of numerous factors, one of which is target market. For this particular product, my target market is for the younger crowd. Ideally for the ones who just legally turned 18 (or at a particular drinking age depending in their country) and cannot wait to see the world for themselves at a different point of view or just for the people looking at a wilder side of life. As you can see in the pictures above, those editions are different from the usual ones. Thus introducing my product, ABSOLUT WILD SIDE. This particular drink has 10% more alcohol than the original ABSOLUT VODKA and a splash of energy to get you pumped up so you could party all night without feeling the buzz right away. ABSOLUT WILD SIDE will make you party harder than you've ever been. ABSOLUT WILD SIDE is now available in all Duty Free, LCBO, and other licensed carriers worldwide.

For my script, I was inspired by how there wasn't any dialogue in the Molson Canadian commercial. So, I decided to make my commercial have no dialogue. But really, I was inspired by the awkwardness the people felt when they saw a fridge in the middle of a road or a street so, I wanted to make my commercial as awkward as possible because awkwardness captures anyone's attention. I was also inspired by the Coors Light commercial because the message in the commercial was literally portrayed and I wanted to make my commercial as literal as it is to give the message that I wanted to give.
I revised my script almost three times because of certain uncontrollable circumstances like the weather and the time it took to film. I had a lot of parts cut out from my original script. I really liked this activity because it gets me to think more critical on my creative side. To see what my script is like, feel free to download the link below. |
So, uh amateur hour! I really had a hard time editing my commercial because I had to revise my script so many times. This is because of the weather. At first I was planning to film most of my scenes outside but for that whole week that I was supposed to film, it was raining or it was really cold. So, I had to do a compromise and just film inside the halls of my dearly beloved school. Nonetheless, I had fun filming it.
The process of the whole editing took me about a week and a half (give or take). It's really amateur because I'm new to final cut pro. I know I could have done a better job on this if I had more time and a better setting (maybe even more experience or familiarity with the program). I struggled most with putting the audio. I really don't like it but I got the hang of cutting and like experimenting with effects and I found it really fun to work with. It's also really user friendly. After just a couple of days working with final cut, I think I can pretty much get around making amateur films with the basics. I can honestly say that I am proud of myself for finishing a project like this by myself. |
LOGOS
BUDWEISER is probably one of the most popular beers in Canada.. I chose this logo because the font and the colour sum up their "king of beers" slogan. Just looking at the font makes it look like it's royalty and the red colour makes it look like a red carpet.
MALIBU is a popular rum and I personally like this logo because of how it ties in with the tropical feel that the drink gives.,. Also, they really hit their target market (legal aged beach maniacs lol) because they always serve this with cocktails by the beaches. I find that the colours also help with enriching the experience of the drink.

BACARDI has one of the most interesting logos because of the history behind it. If you're wondering why the logo is a bat, it's because fruit bats are good pollinators of sugar cane which is a key ingredient in making this rum. Also, when the makers of Bacardi first started, fruit bats lived in the rafters of their building which inspired the logo for Bacardi.
GEORGE DICKEL's not as well of an established brand like the others but I chose this logo because again, simple designs never run out of style. The font gives out a Western look that goes with the fact that it's made from Tennessee. I also like how the colours used remind me of the saloon doors they used back in the days. It really finishes the Western feel.

JACK DANIEL'S is a really famous whiskey. It's also one of the oldest. I chose this because unlike all the other brands of alcohol that are currently repackaging, Jack Daniel's has stuck with its logo since the beginning. This shows that simple designs will never run out of style.
CAPTAIN MORGAN has really made a name for itself turning a Captain Hook Disney figure into an adult party starter. I chose this logo because Captain Morgan is actually based on a real pirate from Puerto Rico. Also, the way the character is drawn seems to show how long this drink has been around which is a pretty long time considering that these days, it's all modern art.

COMMERCIALS
Absolut vodka: greyhoundi chose this commercial because it they used a famous group to advertise the product and catch people's attention, especially the younger market. i also liked the effects used in the video. |

COORS LIGHTi chose this commercial because it's a really good way to let the audience know that the beer cools you off by showing all the ice, THE SNOW, THE JET SKIS, and the expressions on the faces of the people in the skit. |
MOLSON CANADIANi chose this commercial because it REALLY EMPHASIZES THE CANADIAN ASPECT OF IT (AFTER ALL, IT'S CANADIAN BEER LOL). I THINK IT'S WELL MADE BECAUSE IT SHOWS THE EXCLUSIVITY OF CANADIANS ALL OVER THE WORLD. IT MAKES PEOPLE WANT TO BE CANADIAN BECAUSE OF IT. i guess the idea behind this is that when you drink this beer, you become a true canadian, no matter where you are in the world. it's also a way to bridge canadians all over the globe. |

coca colai chose this commercial because even though it isn't alcohol, it's still part of the beverage industry. i like it because it really keeps you interested because it builds up to a climax. also, coca cola is a well established brand all over the world not only for their product but also for their ads. i know for a fact that this commercial is very cost efficient but relays a really simple yet effective message to the audience. |
